Get off the beaten path and discover the unique charm of our Adirondack back roads! Wonderful discoveries await as you visit some of the hidden gems and attractions on this fun road trip.
Just a few miles north of the hustle and bustle of Lake George Village you will discover the town of Warrensburg, a small community situated on the banks of the Schroon and Hudson Rivers. Here, tucked away on a hill directly off Main Street, you will find Oscar's Adirondack Smokehouse. This cherished gem is famous for its fabulous smoked meats, cheeses, mustard and hand-made food products. Be sure to drop in and see why it has been loved by the locals for generations.
Continue on to enjoy beautiful Adirondack scenery as you head to a picnic lunch among the pines at Warren County Nature Trail. Self-guided nature trails offer 1.6 miles of interconnected, easy walking paths along the shore of the beautiful Hudson River. Explore nature, cool off in the clear water or just take in the scenery riverside.
Next, ramble down the road to Nettle Meadow Farm, where happy, healthy goats and sheep produce gourmet, award-winning cheeses. In addition to learning the principles of making this delicious artisan cheese, you will meet over 100 sanctuary animals including llamas, ducks, chickens, horses and donkeys! Don't forget to visit the cheese shop to bring home your own taste of the Adirondacks.
Your last stop is the quaint town of North Creek. Stop in to Barkeater Chocolates for the finest handmade chocolates, explore the shops along Main Street or take a gondola ride to the top of Gore Mountain for gorgeous views of the Adirondack High Peaks before either returning home or checking into one of the many unique lodging options in this charming Adirondack town.
