Locals call it the Million-Dollar Half-Mile. The Factory Outlets of Lake George are home to more than 50 stores offering steep discounts on national brands and designer merchandise. Seasonal sales, clearance markdowns, and BOGO deals are the norm year-round. The four outlet shopping centers are located within walking distance of each other, so you can park once and shop all day. Parking is free and plentiful, while pedestrian crosswalks make it safe and easy to zigzag across Route 9 in search of the latest bargains.
The Four Centers
There are four main outlet centers (although some would argue there are five because one center is divided between two buildings). They are easy to get to, located just off Exit 20 of the Adirondack Northway (I-87) and only two miles south of the Lake George Village. For those coming from Vermont and other points east, NY Route 149 brings drivers right through the Million-Dollar Half-Mile.
Each center has public restrooms, an ATM machine, and vending machines filled with cold drinks. There is a Stewart’s Shop in front of the French Mountain Commons, where you can pick up snacks, grab an ice cream cone, and gas up your car.
And, for a caffeine fix to keep you energized during your outing, there is a drive-thru Starbucks right next door to the Adirondack Outlet Mall and a Dunkin’ in the Mobil/Jolley gas station right off Exit 20.
Tip: Start your shopping at the Moose on the Loose Cafe in the French Mountain Commons where you can pick up a Lake George Outlets coupon book. The coupons offer dollars-off deals, 10% to 20% discounts, and a few freebies. While at the Moose on the Loose, you might want to fuel up for your shopping excursion with a hearty Moose Wrap breakfast sandwich.
The Outlets at Lake George - East and West

These are the southern-most centers. This outlet spans both sides of Route 9. In these stores you will find your favorite blue jeans, athletic footwear, leather goods, specialty foods, and scented candles.

French Mountain Commons is on the West side of Route 9. This is a great place to shop for back-to-school wardrobes with Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, and J. Crew. Throw in Jockey and two shoe stores, what more do you need? Maybe designer eyewear? Sunglass Hut carries Michael Kors, Versace, and Prada if snazzy shades are on your shopping list.

Adirondack Outlet Mall

If your Lake George vacation includes outdoor adventure, this is the place to find your gear. There is only one L.L. Bean Outlet in New York State, and it is in the Adirondack Outlet Mall. The 13,600 square foot store is filled with discontinued and overstocked hiking, camping, and fishing essentials, along with L.L. Bean’s classic apparel and footwear. The Adirondack Outlet Mall is also home to Eddie Bauer, Under Armour, and Timberland outlets.
You will also find women’s clothing in styles ranging from buttoned down to boho at Finders Keepers Consignments, two shoe stores, and jewelry. Back-to-school shoppers will find great deals on clothes for kids at The Children’s Place.
Tip: A great place to grab lunch is at Moose on the Loose Deli inside the Adirondack Outlet Mall. They serve sandwiches on home-baked breads, hearty soups, fresh salads, oven-roasted meats – real food!

Tip: Long weekends are long on bargains. Labor Day, President’s Day, Columbus Day, and other holiday weekends bring in shoppers from all over to snatch up the deals. If you plan to shop at the Lake George Outlets at these times, expect heavier than usual traffic. Traffic lights and center turning lanes help vehicles move along, but expect some stop-and-go as you drive the Million-Dollar Half-Mile on holiday weekends.

Here you can shop for a smart power suit, high-tech running shorts, a leather bomber jacket, and adorable outfits for the kids. Tip: Discounts of up to 60% are routine at the outlets, but you can save even more during the semi-annual sales. The end of July is when clothing stores are moving out merchandise to make room for fall styles. Look for another sale in February (Winter Carnival season!) to make room for spring fashions.
More Bargains Nearby
Just north of the four main Lake George Outlet Centers, you can find more bargain shopping at Orvis Outlet, Super Shoes, Family Footwear Center (which regularly has outdoor tent sales), The Sox Market, and DXL Menswear. These stores are at the intersection of State Routes 9 and 149 at the North End of the Million-Dollar Half-Mile.

The Lake George Area is the Original Vacation destination, and it is easy to get in some shopping time while enjoying all the activities, events, and spectacular beauty of the region. Tip: CDTA trolleys run from Glens Falls to Lake George with stops at the outlets. Most Lake George Area hotels, motels, and campgrounds are on the route. This is a good transportation option if you prefer to leave your vehicle behind.
