Attached to the lodge property is becks Tavern, a German-inspired restaurant with both German and American fare that will be sure to fill you up after a long day in the outdoors. Often times, becks hosts live music during the weekends, featuring local bands happy to play for a warm, captivated audience. The Summit at Gore Mountain

Not to be confused with Gore’s actual summit, these vacation rentals, only three miles away from the base of the mountain, offer anywhere from one-bedroom units all the way up to three- and four-bedroom stays. Mountain Adventures

If you’re looking for year-round adventure, look no further than on the slopes and trails of Gore Mountain in North Creek.

 

Winter visits to this resort are welcomed with over 100 trails of downhill skiing and snowboarding trails across four peaks, with widely diverse terrain for any and all skill levels. Of course, Gore also makes for an excellent spot during the warmer months of the year, with available hiking and downhill mountain biking trails, and even a nine-hole disc golf course among the resort’s wooded trails and forest peaks.

 

Right next door to Gore is the North Creek Ski Bowl, with a 4 km trail network that provides groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing during the day, and twilight skiing during the evening hours of the winter season. Meanwhile, during the summer and fall, the Ski Bowl has its own group of hiking and mountain biking trails.

 

And, after your time on the slopes, make sure to visit the Ski Bowl’s lodge, The Station, complete with plenty of seating space, a retail shop, and even a year-round restaurant, Timber & Thyme.

Hiking

Hosting miles of treks with breathtaking views—especially of the Adirondack Mountains—the Lake George Area is a haven for hikers of all abilities.

 

If you’ve already explored the trails found around the resorts at Gore Mountain, the North Creek Ski Bowl, and Garnet Hill Outdoor Center, you can encounter multiple series of hikes as part of the Brant Lake Challenge and Chester Challenge. Both challenges contain several trails of varying lengths and difficulties, with dedicated recreation enthusiasts aiming to complete them all.

 

The hikes of the Brant Lake Challenge are all near the hamlet of Brant Lake, a 25-minute drive from the North Creek Area, while the Chester Challenge trails are near the Town of Chester, which is a 20-30-minute drive. All these climbs reward you with breathtaking views of the Adirondacks, and if you’re willing, multiple hikes can be accomplished during your trip.

  • Natural Stone Bridge and Caves – A 25-minute drive to nearby Pottersville is home to the largest marble cave entrance in the eastern U.S. Explore several caves, potholes, and more on a self-guided tour around this picturesque trail.

Take a brisk walk or drive along North Creek’s Main Street and stop in Café Sarah, a local award-winning bakery with dozens of delectable pastries and baked goods, as well as other appetizing options such as sandwiches, paninis, and soups—all made with organic, locally sourced ingredients. Other available options along Main Street include fresh meats at Izzy’s Market & Deli, and a small-town full-service bar at The Barking Spider.

 

Meanwhile, around the Chester area, you can enjoy a phenomenal sit-down dining experience with wine and seafood at Café Adirondack in Pottersville, or Italian cuisine at Chestertown’s The Place. If you’re looking for more unique dining, consider grabbing a fountain soda at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor in Chestertown, or a flatbread pizza or panini at The Hub in Brant Lake.

 

Aside from the meals served at local restaurants, you can enjoy fresh, locally grown produce, meats, and all other types of foods at one of the nearby farmers’ markets that set up shop during the summer months in the area.
