We hiked the Pinnacle on an autumn morning and were rewarded with a stunning Adirondack view.

An Accessible Hike in Bolton Landing

The Pinnacle
There is a parking area right at the trail head, making it convenient for anyone who is bringing gear for photography, a picnic, kids or pets. It was a chilly morning but after five minutes on the trail, the incline steepened just enough to make it comfortable. The Pinnacle connects to trails leading to Cat Mountain and Edgecomb Pond, making it an easy starting point for a full day on the trails. It took about 20 minutes to get to the lookout, moving at a moderate pace. Once we reached the top, the view was breathtaking. We stayed about 20 minutes enjoying a 270-degree view of Lake George, the Narrows, Tongue Mountain range and many other islands, mountains and smaller lakes. On the way back down, we passed two people hiking with their dogs. In all it took about an hour for the whole trip and made for a wonderful start to the day. We’d rank the hike as Easy-Moderate. One of us had a knee injury and was able to keep up well without the assistance of poles even in the steeper areas.

The Pinnacle and many surrounding trails are maintained by the Lake George Land Conservancy.
