Celebrating 60 Years: The Collector Charlotte Pruyn Hyde

May 6 - September 17

hyde

The Hyde Collection is celebrating their 60th anniversary as a public museum!

This exhibition celebrates the diverse tastes of our founder, Charlotte Pruyn Hyde (1867-1963). All of the works in the exhibition were acquired by Charlotte during her lifetime and formed part of the collection when The Hyde opened its doors as a museum in 1963.

Charlotte’s tastes were incredibly diverse, ranging from medieval stained glass to twentieth-century painting. Though most of the gems of her collection are on permanent view in Hyde House, certain works—particularly many light-sensitive drawings and prints—are unable to be displayed as frequently. The works in this exhibition, acquired over four decades, highlight Charlotte’s keen eye as a collector.

The Hyde Museum hours: Thursday-Sunday 10:00am-5:00pm.
