4. Adirondack Balloon Festival

Glens Falls

The Adirondack Balloon Festival is an annual fall event, the unofficial start to the season in the Lake George Area, and a great opportunity to propose to your partner. Colorful hot air balloons and special shapes dot clear, blue skies all weekend long. Sunset (or Moonglow) flights with luminous balloons against the blue/purple hues of dusk are very popular. And, even the sunrise flights in the crisp, morning air draws large crowds to Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport. Opening and closing nights consist of fewer balloon flights at Crandall Park if you want to join a smaller group of onlookers. A handful of participating pilots offer private basket rides for a romantic bird’s-eye view of the mountainous Lake George Area landscape and beyond.
