4. Adirondack Balloon Festival

Glens Falls

The Adirondack Balloon Festival is an annual fall event, the unofficial start to the season in the Lake George Area, and a great opportunity to propose to your partner. Colorful hot air balloons and special shapes dot clear, blue skies all weekend long. Sunset (or Moonglow) flights with luminous balloons against the blue/purple hues of dusk are very popular. And, even the sunrise flights in the crisp, morning air draws large crowds to Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport. Opening night consists of a smaller balloon flight at Crandall Park if you want to join a more intimate group of onlookers. A handful of participating pilots offer private basket rides for a romantic bird’s-eye view of the mountainous Lake George Area landscape and beyond.

5. Sleigh Rides at Circle B Ranch

Chestertown

Dash through the snow on a romantic winter sleigh ride through sprawling, open fields and snowy evergreen forests at Circle B Ranch in Chestertown. Glide through Adirondack trails on a Vis-à-Vis or larger classic sleigh drawn by beautiful Draft Horses. Cozy up to your partner on the padded velvet or leather seats and enjoy a 45-minute ride, giving you plenty of time to work up the courage. Afterwards you will be treated to refreshments and a make-your-own s’mores bar while warming up around an outdoor fire pit. A moment to remember – right out of a Hallmark movie!

Did you fall in love with the area as well? Across the way are two grand boutique hotels - Friends Lake Inn and Fern Lodge – that specialize in couples’ getaways, intimate elopements, petit weddings, and authentic Adirondack honeymoons.
