Skiing and snowboarding are two of the can’t miss winter activities that built the Original Vacation. With ski areas ranging from sprawling mountains to family-friendly hills, you should make time to hit the trail when you’re in the Lake George Area.
The Lake George Area has miles and miles of the best skiing and riding in New York. People have been heading to Lake George Area ski centers since the 1930's and the tradition of great skiing and riding lives on today as the Lake George Area continues to be a skiing destination.
Head to Gore Mountain and ski their steep black diamond trails or ride through powder-filled glades. If you’re not interested in hitting the slopes, Gore Mountain’s base lodge is a sprawling facility with great food and plenty of room to sit. West Mountain is all about family fun. Ski and snowboard rentals are made easy with the help of West’s expert rental staff. Skiers and riders of any experience level will find terrain to explore. And if sledding or tubing is more your style, we have plenty of hills perfect for that too.
With high-quality skiing and riding like this, why would you go anywhere else?
IMPORTANT Safety Protocols:
The most important thing to know before heading out this year will be to check the website of the ski area you want to visit well in advance, as specific COVID-19 policies can range depending on the mountain. It's advised that you reserve your lift tickets in advance or check with the mountain directly for their ticket purchasing policy. Midweek skiing is always a good consideration to avoid the weekend crowds.
Skiing and snowboarding in the Adirondack area are activities that still can be enjoyed safely despite the ongoing threat of Covid-19.

Here are a few general changes that skiers should be aware of:
Lodge Space is limited so plan to get ready and leave your bags in your vehicle, try to avoid peak meal time and follow social distancing protocols of inside the lodge.
In order to ride the lift, you will be required to wear a double layer face mask in line and while boarding/exiting the lift. If you arrive together, you ride together! 15 feet social distancing protocol remains in effect once you're out on the slopes.
As always, be kind and be patient with other visitors you encounter and be ready to make alternative plans in case the mountain is at capacity.
