Searching for a memorable summer activity for you and your family or friends to enjoy during a Lake George vacation? Look no further than Revolution Rail Co. located in North Creek, NY! This one-of-a-kind excursion takes you into one of the most remote locations in the Adirondack Mountains on a pedal-powered railbike. On this guided tour, you will travel along once train-trafficked railroad tracks through beautiful Adirondack forests, along the banks of the Hudson River, and over a spectacular trestle bridge.
What to Expect
Arrive at the historic North Creek Railroad Station to check in, board a shuttle bus for a quick 5-mile ride north of town to the railbike launch point, and set out pedaling on a 6-mile, round-trip ride into a rarely seen section of the Adirondacks. Be sure to bring a camera to capture the beauty around you. The tour takes about 2 hours from start to finish, so you’re encouraged to have breakfast or lunch at a Lake George area restaurant beforehand or bring along a snack to enjoy at the turnaround picnic area.
There are two types of railbikes to choose from: tandem, which seats 2 riders and costs $80, and quad, which can seat up to 4 riders and costs $140. For the safety of all, there is a 300 lb. weight limit per rider per seat.
The railbikes are designed for adventurers of all ages and ability levels. The terrain is mostly flat, making for an easy ride that can be done at a leisurely pace.
Seasons of Operation
Revolution Rail Co. runs tours from mid-Spring (May) to mid-Fall (October), which gives riders the opportunity to see the Adirondacks in bloom, as well as during the breath-taking fall foliage season. No matter when you choose to make your railbike tour reservations, your experience will be one to remember! Please visit the Revolution Rail Co. website for available reservation dates.

History of the Tracks
The historic tracks used for the railbike tours were once the Adirondack Branch of the D&H Railroad, which brought visitors to North Creek from New York City and Schenectady, New York in the 1930s. The railroad line linked to Tahawus, where iron ore and titanium dioxide were mined.
