Fishing is a pinnacle of the Original Vacation. The Lake George Area’s dynamic lakes and miles of streams and rivers are teeming with a variety of fish almost begging to be caught. Cast for a few solitary moments from shore or devote a day to landing a legend by boat. Add the beautiful Adirondacks into the tackle box and it’s easy to see why you have to fish these waters.

An Angler's Paradise

The Lake George Area’s bottomless lakes, wide-open rivers, and backwoods streams are an angler’s paradise. Hit the hotspots of Lake George, a unique two-story fishery, where you can sink a lure to the bottom to try and catch a lunker or cast around underwater ledges for peppy bass. Take your gear to one of the region’s smaller lakes for some quiet fishing in the lesser-traveled foothills of the Adirondacks. Find your out-of-the-way bend in a stream or river and breathe in the Adirondack solitude. You can catch gigantic lake trout and landlocked salmon, feisty small and large mouth bass, and buckets of perch any time of the year.

When the weather gets cold and the waterways freeze ice fishing season heats up in the Lake George Area. As soon as the ice is safe to walk on you can haul your auger out and set your tips-ups. Want to go fishing but not sure where to start? Contact an experienced fishing guide for expert advice on everything from baiting your hook to jigging technique. Are you more of an expert angler? The Lake George Area offers fishing derbies year round to keep your line in the water throughout any season.
