The winter festivities begin in the Lake George Village, where the annual Lite Up the Village is held. Shepard Park will be lit by thousands of lights all season long following the event, which consists of two days this year to include the opening of Winter Realms.

Lite Up the Village displays include a “forest” of Christmas trees, a family of polar bears, a scattered herd of reindeer, and much more! Illuminated snowflakes light the way up and down Canada Street, while Beach Road is also strung with twinkling lights – the reflection on Lake George is always a stunning sight to see!

Two new Lake George Area winter events – Winter Realms and Winter’s Dream – are focused around their holiday light displays. Winter Realms has many featured attractions, including an Ice-Skating Rink surrounded by shimmering lights and a Mystic Light Walk illuminated by otherworldly elements. Within Winter’s Dream, explore a playful winter world brought to life with lights, music, video, and interactive games.

Have yourself a Hovey Holiday! Hovey Pond Park will soon be filled with holiday cheer. The Hovey Pond Holiday Tree is lit during the annual community gathering. Bring an ornament with a message of kindness or hope to hang, and join in the Christmas carols.

Glens Falls

Glens Falls transforms into a festive locale, where holiday lights shine brightly on busy streets and lampposts are wrapped in Christmas garland and tied with red ribbons. Take a stroll through downtown towards the winter wonderland scene that is the Glens Falls City Park’s bandstand. Or, the snowy fields of Crandall Park and the Spirits in the Trees display, where 150 unique and personally decorated trees will be lit throughout the month of December to honor, remember, and celebrate the strength and spirit of community members and organizations.

Drop by The Queensbury Hotel and step into their lobby for a red, white, and green winter wonderland experience where you’ll be in awe of their classic decorations. The “Q” is at the heart of the holiday spirit in downtown Glens Falls, and hosts the annual North Country Festival of Trees – a holiday shopping event and showcase for winter decorations including a Breakfast with Santa.

Lake Luzerne

Dash through the snow to Lake Luzerne, where Benjamin C. Butler Park is decked out just in time for their Holiday Stroll & Tree Lighting. Colorful bulbs are strung from the fences lining the sidewalk and candy canes mark the entrance to the park. Take a walk among the Christmas inflatables including themed characters. This display also includes a classic nativity scene.

Then, follow Mill St. to Main St., where the Rockwell-Harmon Cottage (Lake Luzerne Chamber of Commerce) and Kinnear Museum are also decorated and lit for the holidays.

Warrensburg

Warrensburg is brimming with holiday merriment. The 35th Annual Christmas in Warrensburgh takes place during the first weekend of December, but the town will still have their best decorations on display all season long! Drive over the bridges wrapped in gleaming lights that reflect onto the Schroon River below. Visit Veteran’s Park for a shiny tinsel display. And, you won’t want to miss the magic at Floyd Bennett Park.

Bolton Landing

Lined with snowflakes, Lake Shore Drive through Bolton Landing resembles the setting of a Hallmark Christmas movie. This charming town is all decorated for the holiday season! Make a stop at the Instagram-worthy butterfly wings outside of Serendipity Boutique. Or, turn onto Sagamore Road, where the bridge leading to Green Island is decked with boughs of holly.

Chestertown

At the heart of Chestertown’s holiday spirit is the Rotary’s Memory Tree. With a special tree lighting event, each colorful bulb on the town’s Christmas tree signifies a donation in memory of a loved on. A brilliant star beckons from the top of the tree that stands at the center traffic light on Main St. Merrymaking at this event includes music, horse-drawn hay rides, soup and chili cook-offs, s’mores and hot cocoa, and two surprise guests who will arrive to save (and steal) Christmas.

Johnsburg

The picturesque mountain town of Johnsburg holds their Lights On Johnsburg event just after Thanksgiving. The white lights, natural boughs of holly, and red ribbons are coordinated throughout North Creek and stay up all season long. Gather around the Community Tree across from the Phoenix Inn Resort and be sure to check out the animated holiday light display at Riverfront Park during the entire month of December.

The Lake George Area is full of holiday cheer, so be on the lookout for even more lights when traveling through neighboring communities that aren’t mentioned here!
