Celebrate Christmas in Hometown USA at the Hometown Holidays event!
Celebrate the start of the holiday season in downtown Glens Falls.This year's event celebrates the 75th anniversary of Look Magazine naming the city Hometown USA. Kids and families of all ages will love Hometown Holidays. All events are free!
The fun begins Friday afternoon with music at the Hyde Collection. Holiday music by DeeJay DuBray and carolers from Glens Falls Community Theatre will begin in City Park at 5:00 p.m., followed by the annual tree lighting at 5:45 p.m. Santa will greet the crowd following the tree lighting.
Entertainment will include cookie decorating, writing Christmas cards for veterans, refreshments & cocoa, musical performances, dance performances, live reindeer, strolling carolers, horse & wagon rides, children's activities, holiday shopping fair, and more! Downtown shops will be open and full of great holiday gift ideas.
Saturday begins with a free showing of The Grinch at 12:00 p.m. at the Charles R. Wood Theater. After the movie, head to the Hyde Collection to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Glens Falls being named Hometown USA in 1944 by Look Magazine. The Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra and the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library will present an afternoon of music and history. There will also be a reproduction of Until It's Over Over There, a live radio broadcast for soldiers overseas.
