Learn how to make a natural gourd bird feeder and gourd bird house!

The first part of this Adirondack Folk School class will be about preparation and planning. Several tools and materials will be used including: steel wool, power drills and saws, scrapers, scouring pads, Dremel tools, sanding materials, and more. Students will be cutting out and sanding one to four large openings in the upper half of their gourds. After preparing scraping the interior of the gourd, various painting and drawing techniques will be demonstrated. After the base has dried, students will decorate their own gourds. The gourds will be covered with polyurethane, when finished, to be ready to hang.

Students should bring with them a pail or basin to clean their gourd, and smock or old clothes.
