About the ARTAA:
Adirondack Regional Textile Artist Alliance (ARTAA) was formed in 2005 by six women textile artists to share ideas and work, learn from one another, and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded individuals. ARTAA members embrace the principles of fine art—design, color theory, texture, harmony, etc. and incorporate these principles into their work. Each member has her own approach to her chosen textile medium and engages in an ongoing process of learning and experimenting through in-person and online classes and workshops.
ARTAA has exhibited in various venues over the years including View Arts in Old Forge, Widlund Gallery at Tannery Pond, Spring Street Gallery, Valley Artisans Market, and Fulton Street Gallery. Our exhibits have traveled to quilt shows around the United States with Mancuso’s Quilt Festivals. Our exhibits have also been shown at local and regional quilt shows.
Our award winning individual members exhibit in other venues as well including Studio Art Quilts Associates (SAQA) which include on location and traveling shows, Schweinfurth Art Center, View Arts, Widlund Gallery, The Adirondack Experience, LARAC, Saratoga Arts, Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Adirondack Artists’ Guild, McKernon Gallery, Maine Quilt Show, Machine Quilting Expo, North Country Arts, etc. Members work has been juried into National and International shows including International Quilt Festival, Sacred Threads, Quilts=Art=Quilts, Art Quilts at the Carnegie, Form, Not Function, Fiber Revolution, etc. Members also have work in private, educational institution, and museum collections.
ARTAA meets twice a month, maintains an online email group and gets together at other times for studio time and art gallery excursions. ARTAA membership is by invitation only.
