Experience secluded Dome Island for yourself with the Lake George Land Conservancy!
Due to the high volume of registrations, including for waiting lists, this event registration is closed. No additional registrations will be taken
Here’s your chance to walk one mile to Dome Island, generally off-limits to people, with the Lake George Land Conservancy. Ski, snowshoe, or walk to the island and see the plaque that immortalizes John Apperson’s donation of the island for conservation in 1956.
Registration is limited and opens online January 8, 2024. This event fills quickly, so register ASAP. It’s $10 per person.
Due to its popularity, two dates are being offered! – Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17. Two time slots will be offered, 10am and 2pm (each trek is about 2 hours)
This event is highly weather dependent.
Important event details:
- Check-in at the LGLC office, where limited parking is also available. Additional parking is available further in town.
- Depending on the condition of the ice, you may want to wear snowshoes, crampons, or skis. Sleds are recommended for young children.
- Event will be cancelled if there’s not enough ice to walk on safely.
- In the case of cancellation, fees are non-refundable.
