National and international musicians perform at The Park Theater!

The Park Presents series features an incredible lineup of national and international touring musicians from genres including folk, Americana, zydeco, jazz, classical, and more!

Below is The Park Theater‘s upcoming lineup for the 2024 season!

  • January 19- Cold Chocolate
    • Cold Chocolate is a genre-bending Americana band that fuses folk, funk, and bluegrass to create a unique sound all their own. Featuring Ethan Robbins on guitar/mandolin and Ariel Bernstein on drums/banjo, this power duo from Boston is impressing audiences throughout New England and beyond. Punctuated by tight harmonies and skillful musicianship, and with a focus on songwriting, Cold Chocolate has quickly gained recognition for their original music and high-energy shows. The band has shared bills with Leftover Salmon, David Grisman, Angelique Kidjo, and regularly performs at venues and music festivals across the country.
  • February 9- Hiroya Tsukamoto
    • Hiroya is a one-of-a-kind guitarist and composer. Born and raised in Kyoto, Japan and in 2000, he received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the US. Since then, he has been performing internationally including United Nations, Blue Note in New York Japanese National Television. Hiroya released six albums. Most recently, he won 2nd place in International Finger Style Guitar Championship in 2022.
  • February 16 – Acoustic Nomads
    • Acoustic Nomads interweaves folkloric traditions from North and South America with soaring musical improvisation, and their influences span from Appalachia to Argentina. The band’s unique sound is a result of the players harnessing these varied musical interests and joyously exploring uncharted territory together.Since forming in 2019, Acoustic Nomads has headlined performances at WBUR Cityspace in Boston, Club Passim in Cambridge, Arts at the Armory in Somerville, and has performed at festivals including Freshgrass, Grey Fox, and Joe Val. The members of Acoustic Nomads have toured nationally and internationally, playing everywhere from NPR Tiny Desk, to the British Isles, Peru, and Canada. Their performances maintain the spirit of folkloric music, while delving into conversational soloing and sophisticated chamber music arrangements, showing how different cultures can come together and join in the celebration of humanity through art.
  • March 14 – The Mammals
    • The Mammals lush 2020 album Nonet featured nine musicians and was “nothing short of sublime” according to Americana UK, bringing “the defiant spirit needed to heal a damaged world” as reported by No Depression Magazine. In 2022 the band is honored and thrilled to be performing these songs – and even newer ones – for live audiences.Dynamic range is a hallmark of any concert by The Mammals. The quintet ensemble effortlessly spans the horizons of Americana, from soulfully harmonized indie-folk ballads to zealous fiddle and banjo-driven foot stompers. The band’s core and founders Mike Merenda & Ruth Ungar write songs to heal hearts and rouse minds. They have recorded and performed together for two decades, as the duo Mike + Ruthy and with The Mammals. They make their home in the lush Hudson River Valley of New York where they host a thriving community folk festival called The Hoot.
  • April 6 – Caña Dulce y Caña Brava
    • Caña Dulce y Caña Brava offers a performance which exhibits the music, poetry, dance and traditional attire of Veracruz, Mexico. The zapateado (percussive dance) on the tarima (wooden platform) accentuates the beat, while the band’s colorful wardrobe embellishes their musicality. Appealing instrumental landscapes include the captivating vibrations of the horse jaw, the profound and mystical harmonies of the harp, the percussive atmosphere created by the jarana, the robust rhythm of the guitarra grande, and the renaissance-sounding bowed instruments created ex profeso for the group, resurrecting extinct baroque instrumentation.
  • April 13 – Shu
    • Shu is a five-piece band of virtuosic hippies who have been entertaining music fans across Northeast with their genre-smashing mix of rock, ska, funk, pop and jazz for three decades. On April 15, 2023 they released their new LP “Armchair Prophets”, 30 years to the day since they first got together and jammed. Bob Smith (guitar, vocals), Todd Haviland (bass, vocals), and Eric D Hamell (drums, vocals). Matty Carl (sax, keys, vocals) and Bryan Mull (guitar, vocals) have played thousands of shows together over the years. They toured the US college circuit in the 1990s, rocking campuses, bars, theaters and festivals from Manhattan to Manchester and from Philly to Portland. Over the years they have released three official studio recordings; Fanagalo (1996), Shu (2001), NCPR Session (2007). However, Shu fans know that the band is best experienced live. They have continued to perform throughout the 2000s. In the 2020’s the veteran players find themselves in demand once again.
  • May 9 – Ariel Posen
    • Ariel Posen’s music occupies the space between genres. It’s a rootsy sound that nods to his influences — heartland rock & roll, electrified Americana, blue-eyed soul, R&B, Beatles-inspired pop — while still moving forward, pushing Posen into territory that’s uniquely his own. Along the way, Posen has received standing ovations not only from his audiences, but also from outlets like Rolling Stone, who dubbed him “a modern-day guitar hero” Music Radar listing him as a fan voted top 10 rock guitarist of the year and the Western Canadian Music Awards who nominated him for Breakout Artist of the Year in 2020 and 2021, as well as Rock Artist of the Year and Recording of the Year in 2022.
