Rochmon Record Club
By listening together, we hear the album again for the first time.
A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, the songs and the stories that went into the making this iconic album. The records will be listened to on The Park Theater’s state of the art sound system.
There will be limited seating and tickets must be purchased in advance. Make your reservations early! Doors open at 6:30pm.
Below is the schedule for the 2023 season.
March 1 – Paul & Linda McCartney’s “Ram”
- “Ram”, released in 1971, is credited to both Paul & Linda. While poorly received by the critics at the time, “Ram” went to #2 in the US, and #1 in the UK, providing McCartney his first solo #1 single, “Uncle Albert and Admiral Halsey”. Paul was onto something, channeling the future and pointing to where music would be 52 years after “Ram’s” release. “Ram” is one of those albums that gets better with age and sounds as vital today as when it was recorded. All those reviewers have since changed their tune. Come hear why “Ram” is now considered to be one of McCartney’s best, post-Beatles albums.
March 29 – Rod Stewart’s “Every Picture Tells A Story”
- “Every Picture Tells A Story” is Rod Stewart’s third solo album. A career-defining album. “Every Picture Tells A Story” is built upon an eclectic mix of rock, folk, and blues – all presented with Rod The Mod’s gravely tenor. “Every Picture Tells A Story” features Stewart’s signature song “Maggie May”, as well as “Mandolin Wind”, “Reason To Believe”, “Every Picture Tells A Story”, “(I Know) I’m Losing You” and 4 others.
April 26 – The Rolling Stones’ “Let It Bleed”
- “Let It Bleed” is the last Rolling Stones album with Brian Jones and the first to add Mick Taylor to the Stones’ line up. “Let It Bleed”, the follow-up album to “Beggar’s Banquet”, continued to drill down American blues with British sensibility. Packed with classic Rolling Stones tracks like the title song, “Let It Bleed”, plus “Gimme Shelter”,
“Midnight Rambler”, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and 5 more. Rochmon Record Club Listening Party begins at 7 pm with a live audio & video presentation by Chuck Vosganian aka “Rochmon”.
May 31 – The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Greatest Hits Collection “Smash Hits”
- Jimi Hendrix took the world by storm in the mid ’60s and changed the way electric guitar was played forever. “Smash Hits” contains 12 iconic Hendrix tracks, songs pulled from the first 2 Experience albums. Every song is instantly recognizable. “Purple Haze”, “The Wind Cries Mary”, Hey Joe”, Manic Depression” and “Foxy Lady” are among them. However, Rochmon is never satisfied, and we’ll be adding some extra songs to the list as well.
