A long-time eastern snowmobiling favorite, Lake George and Warren County in New York’s famed Adirondack Mountains have everything you need for a superior winter vacation. Snow, scenery, and services are all tops in this famous destination. Close proximity to the eastern expressway system means that you won’t have to fight slow traffic on narrow, twisting two-lane roads to get here, either.

But it’s the magnificent scenery that puts this area in a class by itself. Begin your visit with the easy 6-mile ride to the top of Prospect Mountain just outside the village of Lake George. The 270-degree panoramic view from Prospect’s peak is easily the most awesome scenic attraction in eastern snowmobiling. The trail is actually a highway that is closed to wheeled vehicles in winter and groomed daily for snowmobilers, so it’s suitable for beginners and kids to ride, too.

Then it’s time to explore the rest of the great riding in Warren County. More than 300 miles of expertly marked, mapped, and maintained trails wind through the Adirondack woodlands. Some trails lead to more mountain tops scenic views while others lead to frozen lakes and ponds or along delightful mountain streams dotted with dancing whitewater. Some of these trails provide an intimate experience with nature in the deep mixed-wood forest. Take it easy and you’ll be able to observe wildlife like deer, wild turkeys, hawks, and even eagles, as well as many other bird species and smaller animals, too. And if you want just relax and leave the trail navigation to someone else, multiple tour operators provide guided rides of almost any duration.
