Are you bored of your normal running routine? Getting tired of pounding the pavement past the same houses or slogging through a few miles at your local gym? We have the race for you in the Lake George Area. The 6th Annual Glens Falls Urban Assault, hosted by Adirondack Race Management, will be run in downtown Glens Falls on Saturday, May 20th.

The Glens Falls Urban Assault isn’t your normal race. This 3.5 mile run through the streets of downtown Glens Falls is littered with obstacles. That’s right, this is an obstacle course! There are over 20 obstacles this year including rope climbs, stairs, a slip-and-slide, climbing walls, and much more. There are some brand new obstacles that will surprise even the veterans of this race.

This race is designed to be completely family-friendly. None of the obstacles are overly challenging and people from all walks of life are encouraged to give this race a shot. If for some reason you’re unable to complete an obstacle you’ll be asked to do a few pushups or squat thrusts and then keep on running! Contestants can compete as solo racers or choose to race as a team.

Racers can compete in several different divisions based on age. Each age group has both a male and female competition. There is a 12-and-under division, a 13-18 division, and a 19 and up division. And for those who aren’t in it to win it, there’s a best individual costume award and a best team costume award, giving every single participant a real chance to win something.

Downtown Glens Falls

New this year, the Glens Falls Urban Assault is part of the first annual Law Enforcement Officers Weekend. The LEO weekend is designed for active and retired law enforcement and their families to relax in the beauty and comfort of the Lake George Area. The first few waves of the race leave the starting gates at 5 p.m. and will be made up of LEO weekend participants. If you’re planning on running in the Glens Falls Urban Assault as an LEO racer make sure you’re registered with the LEO weekend as well.

Online registration for the Glens Falls Urban Assault continues until May 17th. Race day registration will be available as well. Registration and bib pick-up will take place at the Charles R. Wood Theater at 207 Glen Street. The first non-LEO wave leaves the starting gates at 5:15 p.m.

By the way, since the race is going on in downtown Glens Falls, the fun doesn’t end after the finish line. After you finish the race stick around for dinner, drinks, or shopping. There’s no better place to race and recover than in the Lake George Area!
