1. There are plenty of dining options.
While some restaurants shut down for the season there are still so many places to choose from in the winter if you know where to look. If you want to stay right in Lake George try The Garrison on Beach Road. The great menu, cozy interior, and drink selection will have you lingering for hours. Craft beer lovers should head to 163 Tap Room on Canada Street where you’ll find 16 rotating regional craft beers on tap, good food, and some seriously in-the-know bartenders and waitstaff. They’ll answer your questions on the beer and the area.
In downtown Glens Falls you’ll find everything from Thai to Mexican and gourmet comfort food to the best hot dogs in upstate New York. The restaurants are open year-round but some are closed on Mondays, so call ahead!
Heading to North Creek for some skiing and riding at Gore Mountain? Try Basil & Wicks for great food and drinks, live music and a great atmosphere. Fancy a nice glass of wine and some small plates? Check out BarVino, an Adirondack wine bar with an NYC twist. To warm up with hot chocolate or coffee and baked goods try Café Sarah in downtown North Creek

2. From cozy cabins to resorts with all the amenities there is something for everyone.
Hit the slopes at Gore Mountain and enjoy a relaxing stay at the Phoenix Inn Resort on Main Street in North Creek. You’ll love the amenities and the location only minutes from Gore Mountain and walking distance to many great North Creek restaurants and stores.
Skiing at West Mountain? Stay at the Queensbury Hotel in downtown Glens Falls and take their shuttle to West Mountain for a day, or night, of skiing. Its gorgeous architecture, grand lobby, indoor pool, restaurant, and lounge will pull your right in.
Looking for a cozy cabin where the entire family can stay? The Summerwind Lodge sits on the shores of Lake George in Bolton. This lodge can accommodate groups of up to 14 and pets are allowed!

3. There are events every weekend here, choose which is best for you!
February in the Lake George Area means Lake George Winter Carnival time! Every weekend in February is packed with events and activities for all ages and every Saturday you’ll find s’mores and fireworks at Shepard Park.
We love getting outside in the winter and the abundance of ice and fire bars in the Lake George Area help warm us up. The Inn at Erlowest features fire bars, cocktails, and delicious food at their Winterfest at Erlowest. The Sagamore Resort hosts the Glacier Ice Bar & Lounge each January for two weekends of icy fun. Or enjoy Funky Ice Fest at the Adirondack Pub & Brewery.
Need plans for February break? Drop the kids off at the Holiday Camp for Kids at Gore Mountain or the February Break for Kids Weekend at West Mountain and enjoy a few couple's activities with your significant other.

4. There are multiple ski mountains and each offer something very different.
Looking for a full day, weekend or week of skiing? Head to Gore Mountain in North Creek. With four peaks and 115 trails, you won’t get tired of any terrain. For even more trails and an ever wider range of activities including Nordic skiing and snowshoeing head to the North Creek Ski Bowl at the foot of Little Gore Mountain.
Families, beginners, and freestylers should head to West Mountain in Queensbury where 30 trails offer up everything from easy to expert terrain. Book a lesson with one of their instructors or hit the terrain park which offers up the longest jump in the Northeast! At night the lights turn on and you can ski until 9 pm Monday through Saturday.
Freeskiing? We’ve got that too. The Dynamite Hill Recreation Area has a rope tow, night skiing and snowmaking on their drop of about 65 feet. You’ll also find cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing, a tubing hill, skate rink, and warming hut in the recreation area.

5. It’s not just about skiing and riding in the winter, there are plenty of things to do!
Whether you want to round out your ski trip with more activities or aren’t a skier or rider, there are plenty of options. Are you interested in indoor fun? No problem. Spend the day shopping at the Factory Outlets of Lake George and follow it with a wine tasting at Adirondack Winery. If you’re really looking to escape winter stay at the Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Waterpark and you won’t need to go outside for days. Choose from four places within the lodge to dine at, spend the day in the indoor waterpark, hit the spa, and wrap up the day relaxing in your luxury suite. If you’re in need of some fresh air, there are endless opportunities for you. For a range of activities including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, and fat biking check out one of the many parks and nature preserves in Queensbury. Want to go sledding? If you have your own tube head to the Lake George Recreation Park where you’ll find a steep hill with plenty of speed. If you need to rent check out the tubing at West Mountain and Tubby Tubes.
