Local Craft

People often say, “Sit back and drink in the view,” and in the Lake George Area, you can literally do that.
Hoppy Trails Brew Bus

The abundance of local craft beverages, one even made with the water of Lake George, allows you to taste the beauty that surrounds you. Also, because we do love to keep safety in mind, there is the Hoppy Trails Brew Bus, which gets you to all the places you want to sample beers, ciders, wines, and spirits safely. Sampler tours will take you to a smattering of craft beverage locations, allowing you to view beverage production as well as taste and snack along the way. Hoppy Trails stops at many of the locations on the Adirondack Craft Beverage Trail!

Davidson Brother's inside of brewery

The elder statesman of local craft breweries is Davidson Brothers Brew Pub in downtown Glens Falls. Started by two brothers, the company has expanded to have their beer distributed throughout the region, as well as opening Davidson Brothers Restaurant & Brewery north on Route 9. Decide if you want a sit-down meal and local beer, or a family friendly tour of how it all gets made. Either way, the down-home charm and tasty beer will make you glad you came.

Adirondack Pub and Brewery in Lake George is another longtime source for excellent beer, not to mention very playful names and labels for their bottled beer. The Pub is an Adirondack experience, with memorabilia, knotty pine, 25 beers, and at least one tap handle that looks like a fisherman’s dream. The food will be fuel for whatever your next adventure is!

Insider Tip: Stay tuned for a newcomer to the craft beverage scene, the High Peaks Distilling Co. which plans to offer Scottish-style spirits. The new distillery is under the same ownership as the Adirondack Pub and Brewery and located just south of the brewery location

Cooper's Cave sign

Cooper’s Cave Ale Company is a local favorite. It takes its name from the legendary cave in James Fenimore Cooper’s Last of the Mohicans. The restaurant is located in Glens Falls and has an ice cream window conveniently located adjacent to the Warren County Bike Trail. CCAC has long been inventive with its sodas, making this a great choice for families. Hmm, Root Beer or Wild Cherry Cream?

Mean Max Brew Works

Mean Max Brew Works is one of the newest breweries to launch. They refer to themselves as a farm brewery and tasting room. Mean Max is located just up Glen Street from Davidson Brothers. Their space is beautiful and they have a standing invitation for you to bring food in. And yes, they mean (pretty much) anything. The drink menu boasts a range of different beers named after local destinations.

It isn’t just beer though, the Adirondack Winery has over 30 wines that they offer in their Lake George Tasting Room. Their artfully crafted wines have been so popular that they have expanded their production capacity with an additional winemaking facility in Queensbury. This family-owned, locally focused winery is worth a toast.

Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery serves up handcrafted spirits made from New York State grains and fruits. A renovated barn in a  pastoral setting offers indoor tasting and outdoor seating.
