The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Boys Basketball Tournament returns to Cool Insuring Arena in late March. This hugely important weekend for New York State athletics will have downtown Glens Falls buzzing. The games are important, but there’s a lot of fun to be had downtown during a full weekend of high school hoops. Visitors to Glens Falls will be relieved to discover there’s plenty to do in Hometown USA. Between dribbles and passes, do some downtown shopping, eat at some local joints, and entertain yourself at some excellent attractions.
There’s a variety of great shopping both in downtown Glens Falls and in the Lake George Area beyond. Any shopper’s first stop should be to the Factory Outlets of Lake George, a mere 15 minutes from Cool Insuring Arena. There are dozens of name-brand stores to choose from such as L.L. Bean, Gap, Old Navy, Coach, J. Crew, and others. The best part about the Factory Outlets of Lake George is that everything there is offered on discount.
Another option for shopping a short ten minutes away from Cool Insuring Arena is Aviation Mall. This mall has a little bit of everything, ranging from large, well known retailers to smaller boutique shops. Visitors to Aviation Mall can hit big box stores like Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Ollie’s, shop for clothing at American Eagle or Famous Footwear, or hit other popular locations like Jade Gifts, 25 Silver Boutique, or Peter Harris Clothes.
If you don’t want to travel far from downtown Glens Falls, there are more than enough places to stop and shop at. One of your first stops in downtown Glens Falls should be the Shirt Factory. This historic building is home to hundreds of artists making handmade goods. Davidson Brothers Brewery and Mean Max Brew Works are serving delicious beer. Mikado Japanese Grill serves fantastic sushi and hibachi in their beautiful downtown location.
