3 Beautiful Fall Foliage Cycling Routes & Mountain Bike Parks

Fantastic cycling doesn’t end with summer. The Lake George Area is a beautiful cycling destination throughout the autumn months as well. The region’s unique combination of stunning fall foliage and exhilarating cycling routes is reason enough to visit in the fall for a bicycle ride. Below are three routes to pedal and several mountain bike parks to explore:

Three Lakes Ride

A cyclist looking for a long ride along quiet, backcountry roads should give the Three Lakes Ride a go. Beginning and ending at The Hub in Brant Lake, this 32-mile ride is challenging, yet rewarding, and features long stretches of fiery fall foliage. The Three Lakes Ride brings cyclists past Brant Lake, Schroon Lake, and Loon Lake on mostly flat or rolling terrain.

Warren County Bikeway

Another great cycling option, and a family-friendly one at that, is the Warren County Bikeway. This paved path begins in the Lake George Village and runs south for nine miles, ending in the City of Glens Falls. The Bikeway offers plenty of fall foliage to admire as cyclists pedal over rolling hills and past notable historic sites.

Feeder Canal & Towpath Trail

More top-tier cycling can be found on the Feeder Canal & Towpath Trail. This nine-mile, multi-use trail is suitable for walking, running, and cycling. It follows the Feeder Canal, a waterway constructed in the 1800s that connected small upstate communities to the Hudson River, and eventually connects with the Empire State Trial in Fort Edward. During their ride, cyclists can expect vibrant foliage colors that canopy the path and reflect on the canal’s still surface.

Mountain Bike Parks

Mountain bikers also have plenty of opportunity to ride among the fall foliage. There are several great trail networks to explore, all of which feature professionally built single track trails ranging from beginner and flow trails to stream crossings, downhill, and technical, rocky terrain. Riders at each of the parks listed below will find outstanding views of the Adirondack Mountains, made even more beautiful by the autumn colors:

Warren County Cycling Challenge

Those who enjoy cycling year-round should check out the Warren County Cycling Challenge.  This challenge was designed to showcase the diversity of trails and route options that cyclists of all abilities will enjoy!
