Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway will open on Saturday May 26th and will remain open through Sunday, November 11th.
The spectacular 100-mile view from the 2,030' summit of Prospect Mountain can be achieved by either a hike or a drive!
A beautiful 5.5 mile 2-lane highway leads to parking lot at the summit -- a 10 minute drive. En route are three overlooks, offering picturesque views of The Narrows, Lake George and The Eagle's Eye.
There are beautiful views of Vermont's Green Mountains, New Hampshire's White Mountains, New York's Adirondack High Peaks and on a very clear day, the Laurentian Mountains of Canada can be seen.
From the parking lot, take the continuously running viewmobile to summit for more spectacular views. View the remains of the worlds largest cable railroad and bring a picnic to enjoy at the summit.
Instead of driving, opt for the 3.2-mile round trip hike, accessible from either Montcalm and Coopers Streets or Smith Street off West Street in Lake George Village.
