Warren County Tourism and Stewart’s Announce Contest to
Name New Ice Cream Flavor Reminiscent of Summer Fun in Lake George Area
WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. (June 21, 2007) – Warren County Tourism and Stewart’s Shops have joined forces to promote the Lake George Area through a Name-the-Ice-Cream contest beginning June 25.
The contest offers residents and visitors the opportunity to name a new flavor made up of vanilla ice cream with chocolate swirl and chocolate-covered almonds. The name that best brings to mind the idea of summer vacation fun in the Lake George area will be the selected winner.
The prize for the best name includes a year’s supply of ice cream from Stewart’s, as well as opportunities to sample a range of activities in the Lake George area.
“We thought this contest would be a fun way to get people thinking about all that the Lake George area has to offer,” said Kate Johnson, director of the Warren County Tourism Department.
“We’ve had a lot of fun over the years with ice cream names – from Budget Crunch for the state budget to Choco Jocko Bailey in honor of Jerry Baily at the Saratoga Horse Track last year,” said Gary Dake, president, Stewart’s Shops. “We’re happy to have this opportunity to work with Warren County and think their contest idea will be lots of fun for our customers and employees. Ice cream is all about fun!”
Entry forms for the Name-the-Ice-Cream contest will be available from June 25 through July 15 on the Warren County Tourism web site at VisitLakeGeorge.com and at the 14 Stewart’s Shops located in Warren County.
The winner will be announced August 1, and the ice cream will be available at the dipping counters in the Warren County Stewart’s stores starting on that date.
In addition to the year’s supply of ice cream, the winner will receive a half-day kayak rental for four from Lake George Kayak Company; a cruise for four from Lake George Steamboat Company; $25 off any balloon flight at Majestic Balloon Flights; a rafting or tubing trip for four from Sacandaga Outdoor Center; a family membership to Up Yonda Farm; four tickets for a scenic train ride from Upper Hudson River Railroad; a copy of the book Day Hikes for all Seasons by Bruce Wadsworth and a guided hike in the Lake George Recreational Park, donated by the Adirondack Mountain Club; double value coupons at Fun World Arcade, and mini golf for four at Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf.
