Whether it’s a one day tour or an entire itinerary, the nine for-profit and non-profit organizations featured along the trail highlight the rich arts and entertainment opportunities throughout this charming city. Just some of the offerings include The Hyde Collection Art Museum and Historic House, The Chapman Historical Museum, The Shirt Factory Arts & Healing Center, World Awareness Children’s Museum, several community theatres with professional performances and more. Stroll through picturesque City Park as you peruse charming boutiques and restaurants of downtown. Choose from outdoor bistros, quaint cafes, the landmark Queensbury Hotel, or even a brew pub for a group dining experience like no other.
Delight with a second day of arts, entertainment and activities lakeside. No tour would be complete without a scenic cruise along “The Queen of American Lakes,” 32-mile long Lake George. Choose between five ships that navigate the pristine waters daily. The Lake George Steamboat’s Minnie Ha-Ha sails hourly and lunch and dinner cruises are available aboard the Lac Du St. Sacrement or Lake George Shoreline’s Adirondac and Horicon. Spend a portion of the day at The Sembrich Museum, the former teaching studio of Metropolitan Opera diva Marcella Sembrich. This museum not only contains memorabilia of a distinguished international operatic career, but also offers concerts, lectures, films and events featuring some of today’s finest performing artists. Relax as the bus travels back along the shoreline of “Millionaire’s Row” and learn the story of additional wealthy entrepreneurs and artists that came to the area and built wonderful mansions and ornate hotels at the turn of the century. Start the day with a picturesque 100-mile view from the summit of Prospect Mountain. The bus can travel the 5 1/2 mile highway to the 2,030 foot summit for a panoramic view of the lake, The White and Green Mountains, The Adirondack High Peaks and on a clear day, The Laurentian Mountains of Canada!
Depart the mountain for North Creek to meet your train for a scenic, 2 hour train aboard the Saratoga & North Creek Railway. History buffs will love that the train departs from the historic North Creek Depot where Teddy Roosevelt took his famous ride after learning that he was to become the 26th President of the United States. Visit The North Creek Depot Museum to learn more about this fascinating piece of history. The train travels south along the Mighty Hudson River to the Saratoga Springs Station where the bus can meet the group and depart for home.
