The Adirondack Balloon Festival began in 1972 by “the Biggest Kid at the Balloon Festival” (Maury Thompson), Walter Grishkot with assistance from volunteers and continues the same with community support to this day as a not-for-profit organization.

Balloonists from across the United States as well as internationally based pilots attend for the awe-inspiring views of the Southern Adirondacks.

The Festival takes place at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport located at 443 Queensbury Avenue in Queensbury.

Featuring a wide-array of balloons including special shapes. There is lots of family fun, activities and entertainment throughout the days of the Festival.

All Ballooning activities, including the lift-offs and Airport Moonglow are wind and weather permitting.

NO DOGS ALLOWED. Please leave your pets at home. This is for their safety and our visitors as well.

No drones or remote control aircraft are allowed.

Thursday Opening Ceremonies in Crandall Park

Our Opening Ceremonies in Crandall Park on Upper Glen Street in Glens Falls kick-off the Festival. We have great musical entertainment, and a flight of up to 20 balloons; wind and weather permitting.

The fun continues Block Party in Downtown Glens Falls, Glen Street takes place ~ be ready for some FUN! We have a Walk-about balloon, and balloon baskets will be on display. Enjoy some live music, a car show, and there is lots of family fun and kid’s activities.

Friday Balloon Festival Opens at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport

At 3pm the gates at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport will open for the Craft Fair hosted by the Zonta Club of Glens Falls.

There will be kid’s activities, live music and food vendors.

At 5pm - 6:15pm the flight of over 80 balloons including the special shapes takes place; wind and weather permitting.

Saturday Balloon Festival at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport

Be sure to set your alarm clock and come out early because you don't want to miss the Big Balloon Breakfast which is served from 5-11am in the airport hangar.

If you didn't make it to the Big Balloon Breakfast ~ no worries ~ visit us any time from 5am to 7pm. We have so much going on. There is an aircraft static display, food vendors, kid’s activities including bounce houses, crafts, games and for kids of all ages balloon and kite souvenir vendors. At the Zonta Craft Fair be sure to shop for that special something gift, or a souvenir for yourself. Local, regional and international artists and artisans feature a variety of choices including homemade items.

From 6:30-7:30am is the flight of up to 100-plus balloons ~ including the special shapes.

At 2 to 4pm we will have live music you will really enjoy.

Starting at 5pm and continuing until 6:15pm There will be a flight of over 80 balloons including the special shapes; wind and weather permitting.

From 6:15-7:45pm ~ get up and Dance to our live music.

Be here at 8pm for Lighting Up the Night ~ Airport Moonglow which features over 30 balloons. This is a sight to see!

Sunday Walter’s Mass Ascension at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport

At 6:30-7:30am we have Walter’s Mass Ascension. This is a simultaneous flight of up to 100-plus balloons ~ including the special shapes.

8am Catholic Mass in the Entertainment Tent.

9am Protestant Sunday Service in the Entertainment Tent.

At 2pm we head to Crandall Park on Upper Glen Street in Glens Falls with live music and fun until 5pm when we will bringing a close to the Festival there will be a launch of over 20 balloons; wind and weather permitting.
