The Adirondack Balloon Festival began in 1972 by “the Biggest Kid at the Balloon Festival” (Maury Thompson), Walter Grishkot with assistance from volunteers and continues the same with community support to this day as a not-for-profit organization.

Hot air balloonists from across the United States as well as internationally based pilots attend for the awe-inspiring views of the Southern Adirondacks.

The Festival takes place at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport located at 443 Queensbury Avenue in Queensbury.

Featuring a wide-array of hot air balloons including special shapes. 2017 brings Owlbert Eyenstein, Scorch the Dragon and the United States flag . Come out and see these special shape hot air balloons and all the others in an array of colors and decorations take to the sky.

There is lots of family fun, activities and entertainment throughout the days of the Festival.

Thursday Opening Ceremonies in Crandall Park

4:30pm - 6:30pm enjoy live music by The Master Cylinders.

5:00pm Opening Ceremonies in Crandall Park on Upper Glen Street in Glens Falls kick-off the Balloon Festival. We have great musical entertainment, and a flight of up to 20 balloons; wind and weather permitting.

5:15pm - 6:15pm a flight of up to 20 balloons will take place ~ weather permitting.

5:00pm - 9:30pm The fun continues at the Block Party in Downtown Glens Falls, hosted by the City of Glens Falls. Be ready for some FUN on Glen Street! Meet hot air balloonists,  balloon baskets will be on display. Enjoy some live music, a car show, and of family fun and children's activities.

Friday Balloon Festival Opens at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport

3:00pm the gates at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport will open for the Craft Fair hosted by the Zonta Club of Glens Falls.

There will be kid’s activities and food vendors.

Live music by The North and South Dakotas.

5:00pm - 6:15pm the flight of over 80 balloons including the special shapes takes place; wind and weather permitting.

Saturday Balloon Festival at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport

5:00am - 10:00am Be sure to set your alarm clock and come out early because you don't want to miss the Big Balloon Breakfast which is served in the airport hangar.

6:30am - 7:30am is the flight of up to 100-plus balloons ~ including the special shapes.

Throughout the day (starting at 5:00am) we have food vendors, kid’s activities including bounce houses, crafts, games and for kids of all ages balloon and kite souvenir vendors. At the Zonta Craft Fair be sure to shop for that special something gift, or a souvenir for yourself. Local, regional and international artists and artisans feature a variety of choices including homemade items.

2:30pm to 4:30pm we will have live music Buckeye Rooster.
5pm - 7pm
The Old Main will perform.

5:00pm - 6:15pm There will be a flight of over 80 balloons including the special shapes; wind and weather permitting.

8:00pm join us for the always popular Lighting Up the Night ~ Airport Moonglow which features over 30 balloons. This is a sight to see! Remember to bring your flashlight.

Sunday Walter’s Mass Ascension at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport

5:00am - 10:00am day two of the Big Balloon Breakfast, food vendors, ZONTA craft fair and kids activities.

6:30am - 7:30am we have Walter’s Mass Ascension. This is a simultaneous flight of up to 100-plus balloons ~ including the special shapes.

8:00am will be a Catholic Mass in the Entertainment Tent.

9:00am join us for Protestant Sunday Service in the Entertainment Tent.

2:00pm - 5:00pm we head to Crandall Park on Upper Glen Street in Glens Falls with live music from Across the Pond and fun.

5:00pm when we will bringing a close to the Balloon Festival there will be a launch of over 20 balloons; wind and weather permitting.
