The sun is shining and the water is warming up here in the Lake George Area. As the spring turns into summer many top attractions, restaurants, and lodging properties are cleaning up, finalizing renovations, and opening their doors for the season. From amusement parks and theme parks to cruise ships and top events, these are the dates your favorite Lake George Area attractions will be open.

When it comes to amusement parks and theme parks there is no location in the Adirondacks like The Lake George Area. These are the parks that your family looks forward to all year long. The premier amusement park in the Lake George Area is the Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom. This Six Flags theme park is busting at the seams with rollicking roller coasters, hilarious live shows, and other attractions to create an unforgettable family memory. Their opening date is Saturday, May 13th.

There’s more excitement where that came from. For some different thrills check out Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course. This ropes course grants you the ability to climb high in the air and through the trees. Their full-time opening date is May 19th, and they’re currently open on weekends before that date. Call ahead for reservations.

Some of the classic adventures that built the Original Vacation are opening up in the next few weeks. Boat cruises are one of those adventures. Cruise ships have been sailing on Lake George for two centuries as of this year and both companies that specialize in sailing the lake are open. The Lake George Steamboat Company has already sailed a few times this year, and they’ll be cruising daily beginning on May 6th. Lake George Shoreline is the other company on Lake George that offers daily cruises. Their opening day for spring 2017 was April 28th, and they are now sailing daily. If you want to discover Lake George as people have been doing for centuries climb aboard one of these cruise ships.

Another historic relic of the Original Vacation is at Natural Stone Bridge and Caves. This location in Pottersville is home to the largest marble cave entrance in the east and boasts self-guided tours, gemstone mining, and the crystal mine quest. This family-friendly spot opens for the season on May 13th. One of the other relics of the Original Vacation is the Fort William Henry Museum. This museum offers a glimpse of early American history and the role the Lake George Area played. The Fort William Henry Museum opens for the season on May 5th.

Some of the top attractions in the Lake George Area are annual summer events. These are the events that introduce people to the Lake George Area and the reasons people return year after year. There are a few major festivals taking place in late spring and early summer. The first awesome event is The ULTIMATE Elvis Festival. This event celebrating the King himself is ten years old and runs from May 31st through June 4th. One of the biggest annual events in the Lake George Area is the Americade Motorcycle Touring Rally. If you love everything about motorcycles there’s no event like this one. The Americade Motorcycle Rally begins on June 5th and runs through June 10th.

Most restaurants and attractions are open on weekends and will be open full time in the coming weeks. Lodging properties are beginning to welcome guests around this time as well. It’s that time of year! Pack the car and join us in the Lake George Area.
